Samsung Megadrive : Super Gam*Boy !

-Updated : 5 September 2013-

It's been a while since I was very interested in the video game market South Korean. It all started a few years ago when I moved to Hong Kong for a job with a large sign of the online sales of video games. I remember I bought some Korean games on Playstation 2, then on Game Cube because they offered the advantage of having a beautiful packaging, similar to the Japanese versions, but with a game while English. All was well until one day I discovered the existence of a retro-gaming market South Korean. As a collector of Japanese games primarily, I found particularly interesting the fact that South Korea has had a market exists for itself and do not party at all “Asia”. Of course, as a fan of the first hour of the Sega Megadrive, I was speechless when I saw the first photos of consoles and games Sega Koreans distributed by Samsung. I had already presented the Super Comboy Hyundai here and is and my small collection of games for this console, it's time for me now present to you the wonderful Super Gam * Boy from Samsung !

Made In Korea Vol-3 (Super Comboy)

Following this entry in which I presented the Super Nintendo in its Korean version (called Super Comboy and distributed by Hyundai). This time, I dug up 2 new games to add to my collection of rare Asian small atypical. I say “rarities” because unless you know someone in Korea who himself knows where to look or have the chance of the chopper 3 games that go on ebay in the year to finish at crazy prices, these versions are really extremely difficult to obtain (and even more unfortunately, in good condition). Overview of these 2 latest finds :

Super Mario World 2 – Yoshi Island / Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (1995)

Made In Korea Vol-2 (QuackShot Starring Donald Duck)

It seems that when we love we do not count… Chic
Quackshot is simply in my TOP 10 of the best set of all time (that begins with Zelda 3, Mario 4, Sonic 1… ). I do not explain my passion for this game, but it is part of those I finish again and again without getting tired of, I know by heart and which I do not lose even more life! I just dig up in the Korean version (yet!) that's why I took the opportunity to do a group photo Nerd

Made In Korea Vol-1 (Super Comboy)

Here is a small cardboard straight from South Korea. But what can it contain? I give you a clue : this is a magnificent piece of retro-gaming with the name 슈퍼 컴보이 (it should not really help you? ^^). Then you have found ? Yes I'm sure you've seen the look below.

Well it contains a “Super Comboy”! Kezako one Super Comboy? It's just a Super Nintendo officially sold in South Korea by Hyndai. Moreover it is NTSC 60hz so it would be even more of a Super Famicom Korean, although there is clearly marked above Super Nintendo. For info, controllers have long cables like we had in Europe and its original adapter plugs that has the same home and a 110/220v switch. In short a real small hybrid. But let the technical side and space for pictures as I propose here a side by side unique because it is the Super Comboy with its version of Super Mario All Stars Korean next to his Japanese counterpart, one Super Famicom (with its version of Super Mario All Stars also):
